Strand Motor Company (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a garage at 156 Handcroft Rd, Croydon, CR0 3LE. This policy explains how we collect and use personal data when you visit strandmotors.uk, book online, call, email or visit the workshop. We process personal data in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

What we collect

  • Identity and contact details: name, phone number, email address, postal address if you give it
  • Vehicle details: registration number (VRM), make, model, mileage and service history you provide
  • Booking details: service type, appointment date and time, messages you send
  • Payment records if you pay us in person or by card at the garage
  • Technical data: IP address, browser type and pages viewed if our hosting or cookie tools record them. If you accept optional cookies, Google Analytics also records how the site is used

We do not knowingly collect data from children. Our services are for vehicle keepers and drivers.

How we collect it

  • Online booking and quote tool (Compare My Garage), which uses your registration to price MOT, servicing and related work
  • Phone, email or in person at 156 Handcroft Rd
  • Cookies and embedded services, as described in our Cookie Policy

Why we use it

  • Contract: to quote, confirm bookings, carry out MOT, servicing or repairs, and contact you about your vehicle
  • Legitimate interests: to run the garage, keep records, improve the website, and prevent misuse
  • Legal obligation: MOT records, invoicing and tax records, and health and safety where the law requires it
  • Consent: optional cookies such as Google Analytics and Google Maps, and marketing messages if we ever send them (we will ask first)

Who we share it with

We only share what is needed:

  • Compare My Garage, which powers instant quotes and online booking
  • Google, if you accept cookies that load Google Analytics, Google Maps or fonts
  • Payment providers if you pay by card at the garage
  • Professional advisers, insurers or DVSA where the law or a legitimate workshop need requires it

We do not sell your data. Some processors may store data outside the UK. Where they do, we expect appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum.

How long we keep it

Booking and vehicle records are kept for as long as needed to complete the work and then for a period needed for warranties, complaints, tax and legal claims, typically up to six years for invoices. Cookie consent choices are stored on your device until you clear them. You can ask us to delete data sooner where the law allows.

Your rights

You can ask us to access, correct, delete or restrict your data, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or request a copy in a portable format. You can also withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing site data or using the cookie banner again after deleting stored consent.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal data. No website is completely secure. Do not send payment card numbers by email.
