When does a new car need an MOT?
Brand new cars skip the MOT for three years. The clock starts on the first registration date, not the day you bought it used. After the first test it is every year, same as any other car.
How to check the date
The V5C shows first registration. The government MOT checker shows if a test is already on record. If you bought a three year old car, do not assume the previous owner booked it.
First MOT nerves
