When should brake pads be replaced?
Pads are a wear item. Leave them too long and you score the discs, which costs more. A squeal can be a wear indicator. A grind often means you are already on the backing plate. We measure them and tell you the truth.
What we check
Pad thickness, disc condition, hoses, fluid condition and a road test if it is safe. MOT will fail dangerous brakes. Do not wait for the test if they already feel wrong.
Front vs rear
Fronts usually wear faster. We do not replace rears “while we are in there” unless they need it.
