Why do cars fail an MOT?

Most fails are boring. A bulb. A tyre. A wiper. Emissions on an older diesel. At Handcroft Road we see the same pattern every week. A five minute check at home before the test still saves people a fail.

The usual suspects

  • Headlights, brake lights, number plate lamps
  • Tyres under 1.6mm or damaged walls
  • Brake imbalance or worn pads and discs
  • Diesel emissions and DPF issues
  • Wipers that smear, empty washer bottle
  • Cracked windscreen in the driver’s view

What we do on a fail

Written list, quote, you decide. If we do the repairs, the retest is free within the allowed period. Full fail guide.

Before you book

Walk round the car at night with the lights on. Check tread with a 20p coin. Top up the washer. Then book. Call 020 8686 0868.
