How early can I get an MOT?
You do not have to wait until the week it runs out. Book up to a month early and the new certificate still runs from the old expiry date. Fail with two days left and you have a problem. Fail with three weeks left and you have options.
The one month rule
If it expires on 31 July and you test on 1 July, the new pass still dates from 31 July the following year. Test even earlier and you lose the leftover days. Most people book inside that window.
Why we suggest early
A fail needs parts and a retest. Doing that before the old certificate dies means you can still drive while we fix it, as long as the car is safe. If you fail.
