How much does an MOT cost?
The government caps a Class 4 MOT at £54.85. That is the most a garage can charge for the test itself. Strand Motor Company charges within that limit at 156 Handcroft Road, Croydon. If the car fails, repairs are a separate quote. You do not have to have them done here.
What the fee covers
The MOT fee is for the inspection and the pass or fail report. It is not a service. It does not include parts, oil or repairs. Lights, brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, emissions, seatbelts and bodywork corrosion are on the check list. You get a written report at the end.
If the car fails
A fail is not an extra MOT bill. We list the defects and quote for the work. If we carry out the fail repairs, the retest is free within the DVSA period. Read what happens if your car fails.
