What does an MOT check?
A Class 4 MOT is the annual test for most cars and light vans. At Strand Motor Company the tester works through the DVSA list. It is not a service and it is not a guarantee nothing will go wrong later. It is a legal minimum.
The main areas
- Lights, indicators, number plate lamps
- Brakes and handbrake
- Tyres and wheels
- Steering and suspension

- Seatbelts, wipers, windscreen, horn
- Bodywork, doors, mirrors, corrosion in prescribed areas
What it does not cover
Engine oil condition, cambelt age and most electrical faults that do not affect the listed items. That is why a service still matters. MOT vs service.
